Book Review: Josie's Bedazzled Shoes

Josie's Bedazzled Shoes written by Teresa L. Baker and Lydia L. Miles
Illustrations by Ruth Klassen Andrews

This sweet children's book is about a little girl (Josie) who is having trouble talking to the other students at her school. When Josie's mom buys her a new pair of shoes, it opens up a pathway of communication from another student and Josie now has a new friend.
After I read this book to my preschool class, they said the shoes must be magic! We also talked about being nervous when we talk to new people. Finding something you have in common with someone helps you connect with those around you.
This will be a regular book in my back to school collection since we often have students that are afraid to speak to one another.
I always like to include my thoughts on the illustrations. The watercolor looking paintings really capture the mood of the book and would be easy for the students to replicate when drawing about their favorite part of the story.
